Research Career Development Travel Award Program
The Office of the Vice President for Research and the Council of Research Deans are pleased to announce a Research Career Development Travel Award Program. The purpose of this program is to provide travel funds (up to $1500) for faculty to attend research meetings that are deemed as critical to their career development, and for which other sources of funding are not available.
Eligibility: Applicant must hold a full-time faculty position at a UMDNJ school.
Review Criteria – Strong preference will be given to:
1. Junior faculty who wish to attend a critical meeting in their research area, and for which no/insufficient other funds are available. In this case, an abstract of the research to be presented should be included.
2. Senior faculty who wish to attend a meeting outside of their primary research field, but in a scientific area that will enhance/expand their current research capabilities, and for which no/insufficient other funds are available.
All proposals will be reviewed by members of the Council of Research Deans, who will make recommendations for funding to the VP for Research.
Application must include:
- Name and contact information of faculty member
- Title, location and date(s) of research meeting
- Reason for attending meeting (i.e. how does attendance at this meeting contribute to career development?) (half page limit)
- Abstract of research to be presented (if applicable – one page limit)
- Curriculum vitae
- Estimated cost of meeting (i.e. registration, travel, hotel, meals)
- Statement that other internal sources of funding to cover all meeting expenses (i.e. grants, laboratory or departmental funds) are not available. Partial funding of meeting attendance by department/school is both permitted and encouraged.
- Source of partial/matching funding (if applicable)
- Signatures of faculty member and department chair
