The Office of the Vice President for Research provides UMDNJ faculty with resources to maintain electronic CVs and seek funding opportunities. The components of this research management software have been licensed from InfoEd International, Inc, a leading academic research management software company.
Selected components of the InfoEd software available to UMDNJ faculty are described below:
SMARTS/GENIUS: allows faculty to maintain electronic CVs and research profiles (i.e. areas of expertise and interest) in the GENIUS database (Global Expertise Network for Industry, Universities, and Scholars). By using GENIUS, researchers are provided with automatic daily updates of new federal, non-federal and international research funding opportunities. Researchers receive notification daily via email of funding opportunities through SMARTS, the Spin Matching and Researcher Transmittal System, which sends targeted announcements based on keywords entered into the GENIUS profile.
To enter and use the GENIUS software choose the “Registered Users” link above. If you do not already have a GENIUS account or have forgotten your passwords, choose the same link, select Get Profile and follow the steps. The research office in each school provides assistance to faculty with this software.
SPIN: the Sponsored Programs Information Network is a database containing many thousands of funding opportunities from most sponsoring agencies. Funding opportunities in SPIN are updated daily.
