Proposals For Formation of New Statewide Centers

Issued: May 22, 2000

Introduction and Background

Application to form a new Center will be in the form of a business plan which will include the elements suggested as Contents in the section below. The proposal of a new Center will involve a significant level of effort. Proposers are strongly advised to seek the informal approval of the Deans and the Senior Management of the University before undertaking this task. The Office of the President is prepared to work closely with Center Directors and/or with teams that are proposing new Centers to craft these business plans to be effective documents in guiding the early development of the Center.

To assist in structuring proposals, the University has adopted the attached Model for Statewide Centers. It is expected that Statewide Centers will be structured within the framework of this Model.

Following development of a business plan mutually agreeable to all involved parties, the proposal should be formally submitted to the Office of the President . The President will form a Review Committee, which may involve those outside the University. Upon receipt of an analysis by the Review Committee, the President may then seek the approval of the Board.
